'Only One You' Art Installation
Children, parents and the staff at Twydall Primary School have channeled their experiences of COVID 19 in a positive and meaningful way, through a fantastic collaborative art project. One that will stand the test of time.
The project is based on the best-selling story ‘Only one you’ by Linda Kranz - this is a powerful story of transition and progress; it is a story about change. A story that has the potential to allow children the opportunity to discuss their recent experiences.
From this story, all members of the Twydall school community have painted pebbles using bright and positive colours.
The installation is a lasting memory of how the Twydall school community came through this time and of our gratitude towards those who have helped us. As trauma aware school we are concerned about the impact on our community’s mental health and well-being and want to link the
Covid-19 crisis in a positive way to how we can all re-engage with the school. Creativity can help us all at this time. It will form part of our rainbow recovery curriculum.
‘We are working really hard to put together a bespoke curriculum of recovery for our children, in light of the time missed and the experiences they have had. This installation will be a reminder of our changed lives due to COVID 19, but will put a positive outlook on it. It will be a rainbow of hope’.
