Learning Support Assistant

Twydall Primary School, part of the Rainham Mark Education Trust family of schools is looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to join our team of dedicated people, with a passion for working within a school environment.

We are looking for an amazing individual to join our happy, unique and hardworking school who has the passion to inspire.  You will support the class teacher in the teaching and well-being of the children to achieve the targets set in their personal learning by providing learning support within the class.  This will include  working within small groups and where necessary, be assigned to individual pupils in order to support pupils’ learning and progress.  We are looking for sTomeone who can make learning fun yet challenging, is active, enthusiastic, caring and creative and who is willing to share their skills and love of teaching.

The post requires the applicant to be able:

  • To use language and other communication skills that pupils can understand and relate to.
  • To establish positive relationships with pupils and empathise with their needs.
  • To demonstrate active listening skills.
  • To consistently and effectively implement agreed behaviour management strategies.
  • To work effectively and supportively as a member of the school team.
  • To work within and apply all school policies, e.g. Behaviour Management, Child Protection, Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities, etc.
  • To relate sympathetically to children.
  • To promote social skills in children.
  • To ensure policies and procedures are followed at all times.

The school is a larger than average primary school with circa 500 pupils and is a central part of the local community, with large grounds, and an excellent outdoor learning environment.  Twydall Primary School is a unique school because it also provides a highly inclusive learning environment for pupils with complex physical needs and Hearing Impaired needs.
 
This role will be based in EYFS, and would suit someone with experience in this area of Primary Education.  We would particularly invite candidates to apply with experience in Read Write Inc.

Salary: Grade: D2 – £17,173 - £20,541 per annum, pro rata.

This post is for 28.75 hours per week for 39 weeks per year.
